Erat Single-action Harp - No. 1913
New, unusual harp added to the collection
This small single-action harp (approx. 1m tall) was made by Jacob and James Erat c.1830-35. It has 22 strings, tuned Eb to Eb with pedals corresponding to each string. The soundboard is beautifully painted and unusually the pedals are cranked and mounted with ivory. As far as I am aware this is the only harp by Erat of this model. Various theories have been proposed to explain its size and reseach continues.
